ICAPGen is pleased to announce that the following tests will soon be offered to complete the United States Regions:

* Great Plains Region (projected Summer 2009 will include Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Texas)

* Mountain West Region (projected Summer 2009 includes Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming)

* Pacific States Region (projected Summer 2009 Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington)

Click to see other U.S. Regions.

This advanced notification provides the applicant time to prepare a four-generation project in their selected region.

In 2007 ICAPGen achieved its five-year goals to standardize its testing processes to meet the demands of a growing industry. As a result, the areas of African American, General Genealogy Reference, Records of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Native American Research were incorporated into current regional examinations such as: Mid-South African American, Gulf-South Native American, Mountain West LDS, and Midwestern Librarian. Please see previous announcements below.

New Announcements at FGS

Announced at the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) National Conference in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, on 17 August 2007, Karen A. Clifford, 1st Vice-Chair, introduced another new testing area, and the expansion of testing sites.

Curt B. Witcher, Manager of the Historical Genealogy Department at the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and guest speaker for the ICAPGen luncheon at the FGS conference, enthusiastically welcomed the expansion of testing sites to include the Genealogy Department at the Allen County Public Library.

Recognizing the ever-expanding availability of genealogical resources, and training needed by reference librarians a new examination is under construction to be available in the winter of 2007. An applicant for the Librarian credential would select a U.S. region from the ICAPGen list. Click to see U.S. Regions.
